Secondary School Academy (Large Single Site)
Challenge
Driffield School & Sixth Form faced the challenge of securing a reliable and efficient cleaning service provider capable of managing the significant demands of a large educational establishment.
The previous contract had ended, and the school required daily cleaning services for a diverse range of environments including classrooms, science laboratories, sports halls, and communal areas. Furthermore, the transition period necessitated the sensitive handling of existing staff through the TUPE process, ensuring that there was no disruption to the educational experience of the students and faculty.
Mobilisation & Solution
ICS Cleaning Services approached the challenge by successfully winning the contract through a competitive tender process via the Pagabo framework. The plan involved a seamless TUPE transfer of 28 existing staff members, ensuring their induction and upskilling to align with ICS's operational standards. Additionally,
ICS implemented a robust daily cleaning schedule tailored to the specific needs of Driffield School & Sixth Form. This included setting up systematic performance reviews and site-specific quality assurance measures, ensuring the highest cleaning standards were consistently met throughout the contract.
Delivery Model
To effectively deliver cleaning services, ICS established a dedicated team comprising trained cleaning operatives who worked in shifts to cover the vast areas of the school.
The team was led by experienced supervisors responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.
The scheduling was structured to allow for flexible support during peak times such as examinations and school events, thereby ensuring that all activities ran smoothly without service disruption.
QA Approach
Quality assurance was integral to ICS's service delivery. Regular audits and inspections were conducted to maintain high cleaning standards while ensuring compliance with British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) guidelines.
A structured approach to performance reviews was implemented, allowing for continual improvement and adaptation to any changing needs of the school environment.
The quality assurance measures included feedback mechanisms from school management to assess satisfaction levels and areas for improvement, ensuring that ICS's services consistently met expectations.
Outcomes
The partnership between ICS Cleaning Services and Driffield School & Sixth Form resulted in a seamless transition with no disruption to services during the TUPE process, achieving a high standard of cleanliness across the school.
The introduction of BICSc-aligned training improved staff competency and morale. Maintaining a 100% DBS compliance rating contributed to the safeguarding of students.
Regular audits and responsive cleaning schedules optimised the cleanliness of the school, leading to enhanced satisfaction among staff and students alike, ultimately creating a conducive learning environment.
