Specialist Service

Pressure Washing

Commercial pressure washing for external surfaces, walkways, service yards, entrances and hard landscaped areas — removing built-up dirt, algae, staining, chewing gum and graffiti to restore presentation and improve safety.

  • Walkways & entrances
  • Service yards & loading areas
  • Car parks & external areas
  • Chewing gum removal
  • Moss, algae & grime removal
  • Graffiti removal & treatments

What commercial pressure washing involves

Pressure washing is commercial cleaning of external hard surfaces at ground level — walkways, entrances, service yards, loading areas, car parks and paths. Over time these surfaces collect dirt, algae, moss, tyre marks, oil, chewing gum and graffiti that affect presentation and create slip risks.

The work uses surface-appropriate pressure and methods for each material — block paving, concrete, tarmac and decking each need a different approach — with drainage and water containment controlled so run-off is managed, and out-of-hours or low-disruption delivery where required.

  • Chewing gum and graffiti removal assessed per surface
  • Out-of-hours or low-disruption delivery
  • One-off clean or a periodic maintenance programme

Read more about pressure washing

It is distinct from gutter, cladding and external cleaning, which addresses the building envelope itself, and from internal floor care. Pressure washing is the ground-level external equivalent; the two are often combined in a planned external programme. For the wider specialist programme see our specialist cleaning hub.

When it's needed

Common problems pressure washing addresses

Pressure washing is used to restore tired, marked or slippery external hard surfaces. The most common situations we are asked to help with are:

Built-up grime

Dirt and grime built up on heavily used external surfaces over time.

Algae & moss slip risk

Algae and moss making walkways and entrances slippery and unsafe.

Tyre marks & oil

Tyre marks, oil and residue in service yards and loading areas.

Chewing gum

Chewing gum embedded in high-traffic external surfaces.

Graffiti

Graffiti on walls, shutters, fencing and hard surfaces affecting perception.

Weathering

Weathered, tired-looking car parks and external areas.

First impressions

External entrances and walkways that set the wrong tone for the site.

Scope

What pressure washing covers

The exact scope is agreed in advance from the survey. Commercial pressure washing commonly covers:

Typically includes

Pressure washing of external hard surfaces
Walkway and entrance cleaning
Car park and service yard cleaning
Chewing gum removal
Moss, algae and grime removal
Graffiti removal and anti-graffiti treatments
Planned pressure washing programmes
Out-of-hours or low-disruption delivery where required

Survey and scoping

We start with a survey to assess the surface type, the contamination level, drainage considerations, access and the times when work can be completed with the least disruption. From there we recommend the right pressure, equipment and schedule for the site.

We confirm whether the work is a one-off clean or a periodic maintenance programme, and agree out-of-hours delivery where the area is in use during the day.

Methods, safety & quality

Safe methods, drainage control and quality

Pressure and method are selected for each surface — the right approach for block paving, concrete, tarmac or decking to clean effectively without damaging the substrate. Drainage and water containment are planned so run-off is controlled and does not create additional hazards.

For graffiti, the removal method depends on the surface, the paint or ink and the age of the graffiti; we assess each situation before treatment to avoid damaging the surface, and can advise on anti-graffiti coatings for sites with recurring problems.

Surface-appropriate pressure

Pressure selected for each material to clean without damage.

Drainage controls

Water containment and drainage planned so run-off is controlled.

Graffiti removal

Removal method assessed per surface, with anti-graffiti coatings available.
